BookBuddy Pro: Library Manager App Reviews

Who could ask for more?

I use this app to track my 1,100+ books. This makes tracking my books easy to do. You can add books by scanning UPC codes, searching online and manual entry. The user defined tags allow you to categorize your books any way you want. I like this app so much it is one of the handful that I paid for-but you can try the free version.

Great App

App is very helpful to keep track of all my books, how long it took me to read them, when I read them, and where they are. My favorite feature is marking it as lent out and attaching it to a contact. It would be great if there was some kind of want to buy feature.

My opinion

Cover pictures are of poor quality, out of focus. Im going back to the previous application!

Great App for any book lover!

The only suggestion I would make is that I would like to manually organize the categorizes as I see fit. Because when I tried with number it didnt acknowledge the number 10 and put 8 before.

Incredible! Just what I needed.

For a book collector who has been putting off creating an inventory because it is tedious and time consuming, but also extremely necessary, this app is a godsend! The ability to set defaults for format, condition, location, and many others saves a great deal of time, as does the tagging function. The notes area comes in quite handy as well. The only downside I have found so far is that I would like the ability to add pictures, since many of my books wont have bar codes, and some that do have different covers/publishers than what an online search brings up. Otherwise, especially for books from the last 30 years or so, this is nearly perfect.

Disaster strikes

I used this app happily for years, until a catastrophic failure occurred. The company was unable to restore the corrupted database. Back ups were unavailable. Hundreds of book entries are lost. The company says this "rarely" occurs when the database structure is modified, as in the case of the last book buddy update.

Excellent App!

Book Buddy is an incredibly helpful app for anyone who (like me) is a bibliophile, but is not very tech savvy. The app is extremely easy to use and simple to navigate. This has made it so easy to determine whether or not I already have a book while I am out shopping for more, therefore eliminating duplicates in my library. Highly recommend for anyone who loves to own books and keep wish lists of those not already in ones collection!

Almost perfect

In my opinion the best way to keep track of all your books. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is you cant use decimal point when tracking books in a series.

So nice to be able to organize my books!

Am enjoying having my wish list at my fingertips.

Book Buddy Review

I have found Book Buddy to be very useful. I love the scanning feature. I have a lot of books and now it feels like I have a real library.

The Best!

This is by far the best app for cataloging books there is. You can sort many different ways, theres backup, and you can print the list you made. The catalog of books is even available off-line on your device. Besides all of this, it is very user friendly. You can alter information, switch categories, and sort how you want. As I said, its the best in my opinion.

Freezing issue

Since the new update, my app keeps freezing. I love, love this app and would just like for it to work again.

I love this app!

I have a lot of books and I love that I can keep track of them on my phone. Ive tried so many other library apps and none of them have had as much to offer as Book Buddy+. I especially like the different options for organizing the lists, the wish list, the ability to fill information online quickly, and the additional fields of info that are optional. Its great for someone who likes to be able to customize what they keep track of. I would recommend this app to anyone who has a large library!

Great for Personal & Professional Libraries

I really love this app for keeping track of both my personal and professional libraries. Im constantly letting teachers borrow books from my office (school psychologist) and they tend to magically disappear. This way I can track who has what book AND what resources we have available or are outdated. The only thing I wish the app had is a website that sync with the app so if I have a lot to type in or I need to reference my list online, I wont have to reach for my phone in a professional setting.

Good app

Good app so far cant wait to get into all the features

I’m impressed

Okay — I’m impressed. I bought this about 15 minutes ago and quickly — and accurately — scanned about 41 books. In low light conditions, the application automatically turned on the iPhone flashlight to illuminate the screen. One book came back with the title in Japanese, but otherwise accurate for cover and category. The editing function meant that small edits were quite easy. Adding in my dropbox account took all of about 10 seconds and I immediately did a backup of my data. It’s not CSV format, but a binary SQL format. But wait! It *exports* a CSV file to my dropbox — or let’s me email it. Or print it. Wow. This is pretty cool. NICE APPLICATION! This is going to be great.

Exactly what I need!

I love this app. Im an avid reader & a lot of the stuff I read are books that are part of a series. This app not only keeps everything in check, you can also organize by series, so I know exactly which Ive read & where to pick up if its been awhile, or even to see if the author has added to the series. Perfect organizational tool. :)

Fine App, but lacks some key features.

Update 10/17/2014: Please add iPad support, and a barcode scanner for user-created barcodes (not ISBN) to loan books. Thanks. Original review 6/25/2014: The app is great for personal library management. I really wish it had shared library functionality as well. For instance, User As device should indicate if a book is being read by User B, added to the library by User B or loaned out by User B to a third party. And changes made to a title on User As device should sync with User Bs device. I hope this functionality gets added in the future. One important feature that is lacking is library statistics. Theres currently no way to know the total number of authors, or the number of books in each genre, or the absolute number of books in the library (the app only displays total unique titles, excluding duplicates) unless you physically count them. The app performs well in what it does and is very smooth. Ive never experienced any lag while using it, which is great. The only problem I noticed is that it crashes when you take a snapshot of the book while having other apps running in the background. But if you clear the cache and close other apps, the problem disappears. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Worthy...

I really like the features available in this app thus far. For a collector like my self it can get a little awkward adding a book multiple times. I have different formats of the same title, or a signed edition, and the app looks at me with a funky expression and goes "Did you really mean...?" And then I have to manually insert the field. As if the ISBN was not specific enough. That little awkwardness aside this is a very smooth asset to any bibliophile.

No iCloud support

seriously. backups to iCloud would be very helpful.
